KEVIN CURRAN
President

Kevin Curran is a scholar and teacher of Shakespeare and Renaissance drama. He has held positions at universities in four countries across Europe and North America and is currently a professor of Early Modern Literature at the University of Lausanne. His major publications include Marriage, Performance, and Politics at the Jacobean Court (Ashgate, 2009), Shakespeare and Judgment (Edinburgh, 2016), Shakespeare’s Legal Ecologies (Northwestern, 2017), and Renaissance Personhood (Edinburgh, 2019). In addition to coordinating the Lausanne Shakespeare Festival, he is the editor of the book series “Edinburgh Critical Studies in Shakespeare and Philosophy” and founder of the Shakespeare Summer School at Venice International University in Italy. Kevin Curran has received grants and fellowships from the Folger Shakespeare Library, the Huntington Library, the Bibliographical Society of America, and the Harry Ransom Research Center. In 2017 he was International Visiting Fellow at the Center for the History of Emotions in Australia. His creative work includes writing, acting, and the composition of music for theater.

VINCENT LAUGHERY

Vincent Laughery is in the final stages of completing an FNS-funded Phd on Shakespeare. Keen on crossing the divide between academic research and live arts, he has been closely involved in university theater for the last ten years, both as an actor and a director. He is also a professionally-trained clown.

RONJA HAUSCHILD
Production assistant

Ronja Hauschild is studying both French and German with an added interest in English literature. She is currently doing the specialization History of the book and critical edition of text. She is also working on her mémoire on the German composer Brahms. Having had the opportunity to adapt, and perform a French medieval play, she developed a passion for theatre in every language. She is co -president of the German students’ association (stu.de) which fueled her love for event organization. In her free time, she plays violin in an orchestra in Lausanne.

FLORENCE RIVERO
Artistic Director

Both Swiss and Venezuelan, Florence Rivero started studying film in Caracas in 2005. In 2006, she arrived in Switzerland and continued her studies within the Department of cinema at ECAL. She then worked for several years as director, production assistant, casting director and actress in the audiovisual field. Parallel to this, she studied French as a foreign language, psychology and English literature at UNIL and obtained her BA in 2013. It is during that period that she discovered her passion for theatre and adapted and staged several Shakespeare plays. She received the award for the best stage direction at the Festival Friscènes for her adaptation of “The Tragedy of Macbeth” in 2016. Since then, she has assisted and collaborated with multiple Swiss stage directors such as Oscar Gomez Mata, Stefan Kaegi and Georges Gbric. She obtained her stage-directing Maters degree from La Manufacture (Lausanne) in 2018 and created her own theatre company, Cie Ellis Bell. Her play LOLITA was presented in the Theatre Saint-Gervais (Geneva) in April 2021.

CÉLINE MAGADA
Communication & Press Manager and Ticket Office Manager

After completing her Master of Arts (English, Italian and specialization in Book History and Critical Edition of Texts) at the University of Lausanne, Céline Magada started a PhD as part of the SNSF project Theater and Judgment in Early Modern England, directed by Kevin Curran. Her dissertation focuses on printed drama and the culture of judgment in early modern England. Céline has been a musician for over 15 years and has had the opportunity to take part in various musical and theatrical projects as part of her musical training.During the 4th edition of the LSF, in 2019, she co-wrote and performed in the play EXIT Pursued by a Bear by the Bluebeary Company. Since 2020, she is vice-president of the Association du Conservatoire des Régions / Gros-de-Vaud; an association which aims to promote music and organize concerts and events for the Conservatoire des Régions / Gros-de-Vaud.

SORCHA WALSH
Webmaster

Sorcha Walsh is an alumnus of Unil’s Arts faculty, where she completed her MA in English and Computer Science for the Humanities in 2022. Besides her very untheatrical office job, she is also highly involved in scouting, as the Responsable Cantonale of the Association du Scoutisme Vaudois. During her studies, she contributed to student life within the English department as president of the department’s student association SCOPE, editor and frequent contributor to MUSE (Magazine for UNIL Students of English), and organizer of the Creative Writing Club.
