About the Milos Jazz Project:
Peter Elias, bass
Bass player as well as bass maker in Canada, he begins playing the electric bass at the age of 16, then begins double bass at 20. Peter Elias then starts to work professionally at the age of 18, and at 23 years of age is named professor of double bass and bass guitar at the Grant MacEwan College (now Grant MacEwan University) in Edmonton, Canada. From 1976 to 1992 he lives in the Toronto area where he works with many great Canadian musicians the likes of Don Thompson, Lorne Lofsky, David Piltch, Ed Bickert, as well as visiting musicians like Nat Adderly and Renée Rosnes. He begins building basses in 1979, at first building bass guitars, 163 of them. In 1981 he begins building double basses which today number 89. In 1987 he wins a contract to build 9 basses for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Subsequent sales in Europe lead to a move to Switzerland in 1992. While in Switzerland he plays concerts with Benny Golson, Sandy Patten, Robin Kenyatta to name a few. Recent retirement has allowed him to again devote more time to his passion for jazz.
Simon Seidl, piano
Simon Seild, born in 1988 in Ingolstadt, is a German jazz pianist. He first starts with a training in classical piano before finishing in 2003 a training in jazz piano with Robert Aichner and Stefan Schmid. He also was a member of the Bavarian Youth Orchestra under the direction of Harald Rüschenbaum. In 2007, he is a student of Tizian Jostau at the Richard-Strauss Conservatoire in Münich. From fall 2008 until early 2014, he studies at the College of Music of Cologne with Herbert Nuss. He is a member of a band with Hendrika Entzian, Jakob Künemann and Maxime Bender and founds in 2011 his own trio with Robert Landfermann and Fabian Arends. He is also member of the trombonist Janning Trumann’s band Truman Doctrine (Impuls, 2014). Simon Seild can also be heard on the albums of Anne-Christine Heinrich, Maxime Bender (Path of Decision) and Christope Möckel (Dreamlike). In 2004, together with the band Blindflug, he is laureate of the Bavarian contest “Jugend Jazzt”. In 2007, he wins the Solist Prize at the national contest “Jugend Jazzt”. On the same year, he also wins the Förderpreis of the city of Ingolstadt.
