We will explore how the language of Shakespeare is deeply connected to the breath and the body. Working with free-flow movement techniques as well as with archetypes exploration, we will uncover how to access and unlock different types of emotions, characters and scenes by using the rhythmic cues provided within the lines. Shakespeare left staging as well as emotional cues all over his text, as it was written for actors who remembered more than 20 plays a month. By freeing the mind and concentrating on the body, I invite you to let Shakespeare’s language resonate in a vibrant and surprising way. This workshop is based on training I acquired in Acting Shakespeare at LAMDA, and in my practice with the Authentic Artist Collective in the UK.

Please wear movement clothes to the workshop (bathrooms are available at the Grange for you to change), and water. Feel free to also bring a notebook, should you want to take notes. You can also bring a particular Shakespeare speech you are working on, or want to work on. A selection of speeches will be provided in all cases.
